MOCHA ON THE MOUNT

Coffee Cup Bible Series

Six-week study

Mocha on the Mount walks readers through Jesus' famous sermon and helps them consider the radical practicalities of living in light of His words.

Imagine yourself having coffee with Jesus. What would you ask Him? What might He ask you? In this study we’ll consider His words in the Sermon on the Mount and explore how our righteousness can actually “exceed that of the scribes and the Pharisees.” Okay, actually, we’ll explore how Jesus set the bar so high that we see the key to entering the kingdom of heaven: realizing our deep need for grace and for someone else's righteousness to be credited to our account. That’s the only way we get that kind of righteousness.

This six-week study, as well as all the other Coffee Cup Bible studies, contains weekday Bible study questions and weekend devotionals for lighter reading. Designed for group or individual study.

Jesus’ teachings in “The Sermon on the Mount” can be tough to hear—and even more difficult to live out. In Mocha on the Mount, Sandra Glahn helps women think through the practicalities of kingdom living, without neglecting the heart change that Jesus calls for. Highly recommended!

Relevance is the key word. I love the Coffee Cup Bible Study series. This series is written for women by a woman of wit and graciousness who has an impressive command of hermeneutics. I couldn't wait to get started with Mocha on the Mount. I've been to the place called the Mount of Beatitudes and felt as if I were back there again as the scripture unfolded. Ms. Glahn draws us into history and expands our view as she weaves other scripture and stories into the picture. We can see God's same message in other lives and other settings. She is especially effective at expounding on the Greek and Hebrew words that bring color and relevance to the lessons. It is so helpful to have the biblical text printed in the study. I always have it with me.

Mocha on the Mount was my second experience with the Coffee Cup Bible Studies and I loved it, too! (My first read in the series was the study of Esther.) Mocha on the Mount is a six-week study of Matthew 5-7 -- six weeks of reflecting daily on Jesus' teachings. Very powerful! Like the Esther study, this one is also very readable and full of rich spiritual insights, as well as thought-provoking questions. Other features that I like are the compact size, the spiral-bound cover, scriptural text included, and daily study portions that are easily manageable in one's day. I am now looking forward to participating in a group study this summer with the ladies from our church with Mocha on the Mount.
